Establishing a Legacy
Honoring Ed Crawford
250! The milestone invites us to think about how lasting impact is built—through individuals who invest in future generations.

LEGACY Summer 2026 | Ed Crawford was a wonderful example of someone dedicated to students. Ed, who passed in early 2026, devoted more than 50 years to education. From his early days as a science teacher to his leadership as assistant principal and middle school principal in River Valley Local Schools, he inspired curiosity, encouraged growth, and led with integrity and humor.
“My dad probably loved teaching and coaching as much as anyone I know,” said his son, Scott Crawford. “The students he impacted the most were not necessarily the top students, but good people who wanted to work hard and do the right thing.”
The legacy of Ed’s work will live on. Through the generosity of family and friends, the Ed Crawford Memorial Scholarship Fund for River Valley Students has been established at Marion Community Foundation—ensuring that his influence will continue to shape lives for years to come.
“Mom strongly believed that a scholarship was the best way to continue Dad’s legacy,” Scott shared. “We knew that Marion Community Foundation was the best and easiest place to do it.”
The scholarship supports River Valley seniors pursuing higher education, with an emphasis on character, perseverance, and financial need—reflecting the values Ed championed throughout his life. The Crawford family appreciates everyone who contributed to the fund, helping to extend Ed’s commitment to students and education.
Ed Crawford’s legacy—built one student at a time—will continue and this fund ensures that future students will have the support they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
