Stevenson is Communications Manager

In July 2015, Marion Community Foundation’s former marketing consultant, Lori S. Stevenson, joined the staff as Communications Manager.  In this expanded role, Lori reports to President and CEO Dean Jacob and manages, on a part-time basis, the Foundation’s advertising, marketing communications, media relations, newsletters and publications, website, and social media.

Staff expansion has been discussed for several years. The first step in meeting the growing Foundation’s needs was the addition of Julie Prettyman as Program Manager in 2014. As programming increased in scope, communications needs likewise expanded.

Dean notes that Lori’s skills are well known to us and she is extremely familiar with the inner workings of, not only Marion Community Foundation, but philanthropic development in general.

She has made a 25-year career in the nonprofit sector, having provided marketing communications for The Ohio State University at Marion, the Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board, and CAN DO! She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University.

As marketing consultant, Lori provided Marion Community Foundation, on a freelance basis, with communications planning, news and feature writing, media relations, social media development, advertising, publication production, and other marketing communications activities. She helped to launch the Foundation’s quarterly newsletter, Legacy, and has served as its editor for 10 years.

“For more than a decade, I have been telling the story of Marion Community Foundation, helping as it grew in both reputation and size,” said Lori. “I have enjoyed working with the Foundation and look forward to being a part of its future.”

Lori is a life-long resident of Marion. She and her husband, Jim, have three teenage children.
