Prospect Park Fund
Prospect residents Bill & Pat Agler were lifelong educators. They began their teaching careers in the 1950s at Waldo High School and Prospect Elementary, respectively. They retired in the 1980s from the Elgin and Pleasant school districts.
Bill was also a member of the Prospect Park Board and, after retiring as Principal of Elgin Junior High, he became the primary care-taker of the park for several years. During his tenure, the Prospect Park was substantially expanded to include a walking path, two additional baseball diamonds and additional, undeveloped land.
The Aglers enthusiastically support their community and church, as well as their children’s and grandchildren’s education and activities, especially sports. Bill Agler passed in 1999.
The couple has three children — Susan Wright of Delaware, Brian Agler of Lewis Center, and Brent Agler of Marion, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Aglers created a non-endowed, field of interest fund, the Prospect Park Fund, to award grants in support of the Prospect community and, especially, the park—a community resource which was very important to Bill.
