Marion Technical College Foundation Douglas & Virginia Geib Fund
The Douglas & Virginia Geib Fund was created in 2021 by the Marion Technical College Foundation and Douglas G. Geib II to honor retired professor and alumnus Douglas “Skip” Grant Geib and his late wife, Virginia.
Doug was among Marion Tech’s first students and, in 1973, graduated cum laude with an associate degree in accounting. He joined MTC 1978 as a community faculty member and, in 1981, he became a full time instructor of Business Technologies. In 1992, Geib was awarded the Marion Tech President’s Excellence Award for exemplary ability, outstanding service and enthusiasm.
Virginia earned an associate degree in accounting from Marion Technical College in 1987 and was employed by Campbell’s Supply and Swink Advertising. A dedicated volunteer for the Marion Cadets (and Jets) Drum and Bugle Corps, she was the first female president of the Cadet’s Parent Organization. She was active with Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution.
“My parents were proud graduates of Marion Technical College,” said their son. “Both of them pursued their formal education well into their 40s. They were lifetime learners and were thankful there was a community asset like MTC. My parents always believed talent is in everyone, regardless of one’s background, and education is a key to unlocking those talents.”
The Geib Scholarships will be awarded annually to a second year student with a 3.0 GPA and financial need.
