Louise Kling Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Louise Kling Memorial Scholarship memorializes this Marion notable and her love of education and music. Awards support top ranking seniors and graduates of Marion Harding High School who are pursuing a career in music or graduates of Marion Harding High School who are attending medical school or a school of osteopathic medicine.
Louise Kling (1890-1984) is the niece of Florence Mabel Kling Harding, wife of Warren G. Harding, 29th president of the United States who hailed from Marion, Ohio. She created a trust which, in addition to providing scholarships for students of Harding High School, also supported several civic organizations, including the Marion Family YMCA, area Girl Scout and Boy Scout councils, Marion County Children’s Home, and the former St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. That trust is now known as the Louise Kling Memorial Scholarship Fund of Marion Community Foundation.
