John T. Gordon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund
John P.T. and Lois Gordon, established the John T. Gordon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of their son and the fine man he was, well representative of the Eagle Scout rank he held. The fund is also intended to draw attention to the dangers of distracted driving, an issue the family has become extremely passionate about following John’s untimely death in a traffic accident.
Created in 2010, the Gordon Fund makes annual scholarship awards in support of Marion high school seniors and college freshmen who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Harding Area District of the Boys Scouts of America.
John lost his life in a traffic accident in 2008 when a pickup truck went left of center, crashing into the motorcycle he was riding. At the time of his death, John, known as “Rusty” by his family and close friends, was 35 years old and the father of two.
