John F. Kreis Memorial Scholarship Fund

The John F. Kreis Memorial Scholarship was created in 2018 by a gift from Tri-Rivers Career Center to support the education of graduates of that school. The scholarship honors John F. Kreis, a 20-year maintenance employee of the school, and supports high school students who demonstrate, like John, responsibility and a strong work ethic.

John, who passed in 2000, is remembered as a very kind and quiet gentleman who took great pride in his work. Tri-Rivers was a second career for him. Having previously been a farmer, John viewed Tri-Rivers with a new sense of purpose. He was known for his dry sense of humor and surprising love of travel. Due to vision problems, he was eager to see as much of the world as possible, visiting the Panama Canal, Italy, England, and Scotland, among others.

Tri-Rivers’ mission is to “educate students in an engaging environment for tomorrow’s opportunities in the workforce and community.” Tri-Rivers’ offers high school and adult students, including full-time training programs, customized training for business and industry, RAMTEC (Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative) training, online training, and services.
