Jane Laucher’s Emanuel Lutheran Church Fund

This designated fund was created by the late Betty Jane Laucher (1926-2020) for the benefit of her beloved Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion. Jane created the fund in 2013 by naming Marion Community Foundation the beneficiary of an annuity, one of many options for creating a legacy.

Jane was a native of Marion and 1944 graduate of the former Claridon High School. She married Leroy H. Laucher in 1945. Together, they made their home on the family farm where Jane resided for more than 60 years. She was the epitome of a devoted farmer’s wife. She was strong willed and independent. She regularly tended to her vegetable gardens and would can and freeze those fruits and vegetables to be prepared for the winter months. She was a gifted baker; her sugar cookies were famous and her specialty was baking pies that often won grand champion at the Marion County Fair. She and Leroy both served at 4-H Advisors for many years.

Jane was always on the go and loved to walk. A sports fan, she followed the Ohio State University Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Ridgedale High School. She enjoyed bingo, her many cats, and visits to Amish country to Der Dutchman and Mary’s Market.

Jane was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, having served with the Missionary Guild. She was also a longtime member of the Grand Prairie Homemakers.
