Harper-Stuckey MTC Scholarship Fund
Andy Harper retired from Marion Technical College after 35 years in the Student Services Office. He created this scholarship in 2009 in honor of the College and how it helps the Marion community.
Andy has been involved in numerous community services, fund raising efforts and service organizations, including the Palace Theatre, Marion Area Humane Society, Harding Home Advisory Committee and Epworth United Methodist Church. He has been in the cast of numerous Palace productions, as well as served as producer of summer musicals and Christmas at the Palace. He shares his appreciation of education and dedication to community service with his children, Heather and Ben.
The scholarship was expanded in 2015 in memory of Lois Stuckey, a longtime educator in the Marion City Schools. Lois devoted most of her teaching career to Silver Street Elementary School—later renamed Hayes Elementary School. Lois spent her summers with family and friends on a wilderness-filled remote island on Georgian Bay near Pointe Au Baril, Ontario. She was married to John Stuckey, a Marion attorney; they raised three sons—Dave, Dan, and Mike. Family members all learned the value and importance of a quality education and pursued professions in engineering, finances and higher education. Like Andy, Lois’s youngest son made a career with Marion Technical College in Student Services.
