Dr. James S. & Mary Gray Greetham Memorial Fund

The Dr. James S. & Mary Gray Greetham Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 2013 by the honorees’ children, Jim Greetham, Jr. and Lynn Krigbaum. The Greetham Fund provides scholarships for Marion Harding High School seniors and graduates pursuing an education in healthcare, medical sciences, or medicine. Dr. Greetham passed in 1985. He was an ophthalmologist and civic leader in Marion. He served as chief of staff of Marion General Hospital, was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of Marion Academy of Medicine. His community involvements included the YMCA, Marion Country Club, Marion Rotary Club, Boy Scouts, United Way, and the Order of Symposiarchs.

Jim and Mary wed in 1940. After his service in World War II, they returned to Marion, where Jim began his medical practice.

Mary was valedictorian of her high school class and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. Active in the community, she was a member of Junior Service Guild, the Senior Women’s Hospital Board, Panhellenic Council, and was a Cub and Girl Scouts leader.

The couple shared a love of golf and boating, with Mary golfing well into her 90’s. They were members of several golf clubs in both Ohio and Florida and Jim was a member of the United States Power Squadron.
