Dalton Sipes Peace Fund

The Dalton Sipes Peace Fund was established in 2008. Dalton won an essay contest that was part of Marion Community Foundation’s 10th anniversary celebration. His essay, The Importance of Being Extraordinary, spoke to the Foundation’s mission by asking us to imagine a city in which everyone looked out for and assisted one another.

Dalton was born and raised in Marion, Ohio, and graduated from Marion Harding High School in 2008. During his time in Marion his passion for music was at the forefront of his activities. He was a part of the Marion Harding Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Star Dusters Jazz Band, and Rufus for the Harding Singers.

He included “peace” in the title of his fund because he believes that, although not all people are the same, or have the same beliefs, we should focus more on understanding and love than ignorance and hate.

Dalton lives and works in Denver, Colorado, and is thankful to have the opportunity to give back to his hometown.
