Logos Ministries: Wellness & Fitness Campus

Members of a church on Marion’s northwest side are seeing their newest project have a positive effect on the neighborhood they serve. Logos Christian Ministries opened their wellness and fitness campus opened in August 2023, due in part, to a grant from Marion Community Foundation.

The campus, located adjacent to the church at 582 Lee St., features a 1/8-mile long walking track, basketball court, gazebo, two fire pits, and several benches. Additionally, a fresh produce pantry is hosted by the church at the wellness and fitness campus, weather permitting, on the third Saturday of the month from April through December.

Pastor Jackie Peterson said, “The west side of Marion just needs a little tender loving care. The wellness and fitness campus is just another way her congregation is reaching out to the neighborhood and is open to the public, not just church members. I believe in taking care of the temple, the whole man. Not only can people get exercise, but we have a gazebo and benches where they can relax and meditate. And, the kids have a safe place to play.”

Additional funding partners include OhioHealth and Marion Public Health.

Pastor Jackie Peterson is also the driving force behind the Logos Freedom Riders, which takes students from Marion Harding High School on trips to educate themselves on the history of the civil rights movement and explore educational options at HBCU schools.
