Wesley & Karen Schertzer Memorial Scholarship Fund

Karen & Wesley

Wesley Schertzer graduated from Ridgedale High School and Franklin University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing. His loving wife, Karen Rush Schertzer, graduated from Pleasant High School and The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in consumer affairs. The Wesley & Karen Schertzer Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of this young couple who valued the importance of higher education.

The Schertzers shared their life together and had common goals. Their dreams were shortened by a sailboat accident on August 16, 1997. In their memory, this scholarship fund was created by their family in order to share in their love and hope for the future success and happiness of this scholarship’s recipients.

Accordingly, special consideration is given to applicants who maintain and promote a high standard of social values as demonstrated in their personal statement, essay, letters of recommendation, and leadership in school and community activities. The scholarship was created in 2021 the couple’s parents, Jim & Stephanie Schertzer and Bob & Kay Rush.
