Robert McBeth Scholarship Fund

In September 2025, the family of Robert David “Bob” McBeth created a lasting tribute to a man remembered for his kindness, curiosity, and deep love for his community. They established the Robert McBeth Scholarship Fund, choosing to honor his memory by opening doors for the next generation. They are also supporters of the Marion Public Library Endowment Fund, reflecting Bob’s lifelong belief in learning and the family’s desire to support institutions that strengthen Marion for all.
Bob, born in Marion in 1952, was the oldest of five children and a graduate of Elgin High School and The Ohio State University. His career path was shaped by perseverance: starting as an orderly at Marion General Hospital to pay for college, earning a degree in plant pathology, and later returning to Marion Technical College to complete training in Medical Laboratory Technology. He ultimately became a medical technologist—a role that allowed him to combine science, precision, and service to others. Outside of work, he enjoyed OSU football, Cincinnati Reds baseball, bird watching, gardening, photography, and his involvement with the Green Camp Lions Club. Above all, he cherished time with his wife Marilyn, their children and grandsons.
Bob’s wife, Marilyn McBeth, says her philanthropy was inspired after taking an estate-planning course at the Marion Public Library. “I like the idea of encouraging young people,” she shared. “I also want to help the library have stable funding and the freedom to celebrate diversity.”
Through this memorial scholarship, Marilyn hopes to help a young person build a life—and a future—right here in Marion, just as Bob did.
