Ron & Phyllis Craycraft Scholarship Fund
This memorial fund was created by Paul Craycraft to honor both of his parents – Ron & Phyllis Craycraft – with a scholarship fund to support local students pursuing a career in direct patient healthcare.
Ron (1934-2024) was originally from Portsmouth, Ohio. He and Phyllis married in 1954.
Ron served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. After his military service, he found success as a business owner and journeyman. He and his brother, John, ran the Morral Garage, and Ron also worked for 20 years at Tecumseh, followed by Eaton Corporation, before retiring from General Motors in Mansfield in 1996 as a skilled machine repairman. Ron continued to work at Loudenslager Farms until the age of 85, a testament to his tireless work ethic.
In retirement, Ron and Phyllis embraced life fully, wintering in Texas and enjoying each other’s company. Ron was a member of the Salt Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Y-Men Service Club, and Ridgedale Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams, including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians.
The Craycraft scholarship is open to students from any high school in Marion, Hardin, Wyandot, Crawford, Morrow, Delaware or Union counties. Special consideration is given to applicants who are employed with an assisted living or nursing facility and those attending either Marion Technical College or The Ohio State University at Marion.
