Marion Rotary Club’s James M. Bazzoli, MD, Scholarship Fund

Dr. Bazzoli, a long-time OB-GYN physician in Marion, and his wife, Ellen, made a gift through the Marion Rotary Foundation to create a named, endowed scholarship fund for the Marion Rotary Club Scholarship Program. Marion Community Foundation is proud to administer these Rotary scholarships by accepting contributions from their Foundation.
The Bazzoli Scholarship, established in 2021, will support students pursuing health care careers who intend to remain in Marion. The scholarship is open to students who have attended school in Marion County for at least two years and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Recipients will be pursuing a degree in the field of health care, including, but not limited to, medicine, nursing, and allied health, at either The Ohio State University at Marion or Marion Technical College.
For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world. Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. In 1905, Paul Harris of Chicago formed Rotary so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.
Locally, the Marion Rotary Club was chartered in 1922, as club number 1051, with 23 members led by Fred Guthery, the first president. The Marion Rotary Club, along with the Marion Rotary Foundation, which was incorporated in 1959, has contributed to many organizations and scholarships over the years.
