Jerry & Barb Baker Family Fund

Jerry & Barb

The late Jerry F. Baker (1939-2026) and his wife, Barbara, built a life rooted in family, hard work and a deep appreciation for their Marion community. In 2021, they established the Jerry & Barb Baker Family Fund at Marion Community Foundation to provide annual support to the Palace Cultural Arts Association, helping sustain the Marion Palace Theatre and its place in the community for generations to come.

Jerry graduated from Morral High School in 1957. He and Barb shared 57 years together, beginning in 1959. They raised two sons, Tom and Terry, and built a life centered on family, partnership and shared experiences.

Jerry’s career began in the electronics industry, managing a Servex Electronics store in Tiffin before returning to Marion to work for Mid Ohio Electronics. He later founded J F Electronics Inc., building a successful business that his son Tom eventually joined. Jerry retired in 2015 after a 55-year career, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and perseverance.

Jerry grew up on his family’s farm on the north side of Marion County, where his father operated Baker Poultry Farm. Jerry continued to own the original farmland purchased by his grandfather, Charles Baker, and took great pride in watching later generations work the same ground. He especially enjoyed conversations about farming, its history and its future.

Jerry and Barbara also shared a love of travel. Together, they explored 49 states and traveled internationally, visiting Africa, the Galápagos Islands, Australia and numerous countries throughout Europe. For 25 years, they spent winters in Siesta Key, Florida, building lasting friendships and enjoying time together along the coast.

Through the Jerry & Barb Baker Family Fund, their support of the Marion Palace Theatre will continue year after year, helping preserve a valued cultural institution and ensuring future generations can experience the arts in their hometown.
