James & Margaret Coulson Charitable Fund
The James & Margaret Coulson Charitable Fund was created in 2014 by their niece, Susan K. Brown. Susan sought to honor her late aunt and uncle with this donor advised fund, through which she is able to recommend grants for local projects and programs which were important to James and Margaret.
James was born in 1921 in Marion, and lived to age 92. He passed in 2014, having shared more than 66 years of loving and devoted marriage to Margaret. He attended the Harding High School and graduated in the class of 1939.
James proudly served his country during WWII. He served in the United States Army, 20th Corp of the 3rd Army, in the capacity of Staff Sergeant. After his time in the service, James returned to Marion and spent over 50 years of devoted service as an engineer for Fairfield Engineering.
He and Margaret enjoyed sailing, fishing, and travel. Margaret passed in 2008.
James had a fondness for his nieces and nephews and shared with them a special bond that they will always treasure and which is memorialized by the creation of this fund. In addition to Susan, the Coulson’s nieces and nephews include Bill Smith of Texas, Mim Gay of Indiana, Jim Coulson of Texas, Tim Coulson of Marion, Gary Ault of Cleveland, and Dave Coulson, Dana Mattson, Rob Coulson, Deb Ault and John Ault, all of Colorado.
