James A. Flickinger Memorial Scholarship Fund
The James A. Flickinger Scholarship Fund was established by his parents, the late Olen and Eloise Flickinger, as a memorial after Jim’s death in 1993.
Jim Flickinger was a graduate of Pleasant High School’s Class of 1959. After college, he worked for two Marion businesses before starting his own bookkeeping and tax practice. He enjoyed working with his clients, both on a professional level and as friends.
Jim was always interested in helping and supporting youth and spent many summer hours as an advisor and volunteer for church camp programs and received an award for his volunteer efforts.
Both of Jim’s children, Jimmy and Martha, also graduated from Pleasant School.
In 2021, the scholarship was moved to the care of Marion Community Foundation and became part of its annual Scholarship Program. The James A. Flickinger Memorial Scholarship Fund supports seniors at Pleasant High School pursuing an education in either accounting or business, at the college or university of their choosing, and who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.
