Honoring a longtime and respected Marion educator, the Herbert & Jane Tillett Scholarship Fund was created in 2011 from many memorial gifts from family and friends, following Herb’s passing.
Herb was a graduate of New Concord (Ohio) High School and held a bachelor’s degree from Muskingum College and Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. A Marion resident since 1959, he made a 37-year career with the Marion City Schools, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor, football and golf coach, assistant principal and in curriculum development.
Herb was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Marion Evening Lions, Marion County Children’s Services Board, Marion County Youth Foundation, and Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. A humble man who valued family traditions, he treasured his wife, Jane, of 48 years and their son, Scott, and daughter, Cathy, and family.
