Farison Helping Hands Fund
This designated fund was created by Gene & Jan Farison in honor of their children—Corrie Farison Viola and Scott S. Farison—to assist student-athletes at Pleasant High School. Both of the Farison’s children are alums of the school.
The Farison Helping Hands Fund assists student-athletes in need financial assistance for sports equipment, participation fees, and similar expenses, as identified by Pleasant’s principal and athletic director.
The Farison’s are well known in the Marion community for their long-standing role with Snyder Funeral Home, dating back to 1975, when Gene and Jack Hottinger partnered to create the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home. After nearly 40 years of service to the community, Gene still helps with arrangements, visiting hours and funerals for his many dear friends.
Gene has served numerous Marion civic organizations, including the Marion Chamber of Commerce, CAN DO!, United Way, and ADAMH boards. He was a director of Bank One Marion and served on the boards of the Marion Palace Theater and Bowling Green State University’s Foundation. He and Jan are active members of Epworth United Methodist Church. Jan is an active volunteer with Mobile Meals and TWIG I.
The couple’s favorite pastimes are boating on Lake Erie, fishing, traveling, and watching Duquesne University football, where his son is on the coaching staff.
