The Douglas & Elaine Waring Memorial Scholarship Fund honors engineer Doug Waring and his wife of 49 years, Elaine.
Doug was born in Florida and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Professionally, he was director of engineering at Fairfield Engineering. Doug was a brilliant man and graduate of the renowned School of Engineering at Purdue University. After retiring from Fairfield, he was often used as an expert witness throughout the United States in complex litigation involving engineering issues. Doug was a member of Marion’s First Church of the Nazarene, a Kiwanian, and past president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Created in 2002, the Waring scholarship supports the education of any Marion County high school student who scored in the upper 50th percentile of the ACT, SAT, or other national standardized test.
