Bob & Judy Finney Family Fund
Dr. Robert Finney is a retired dentist in Marion whose longtime dental practice – Finney Family Dental, started by Bob’s father, Dr. Ray Finney – has been handed over to his daughter and son-in-law.
Following his graduation, Bob decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and joined the Army. He served one year at Ft. Benning, Georgia, and an additional year in Vietnam where he was an army dentist in An Khe.
When Bob returned from war to Marion, he was happy to join his father in practice located in an office above the Palace Theatre. The practice thrived, thanks to the Marion community, and by 1971 more space was needed. Dr. Ray and Dr. Bob purchased an old Texaco station and remodeled it into a new dental practice where Finney Family Dentistry remained until 2006.
Bob and his wife, Judy, who worked with Bob at the office for many years, have created this legacy scholarship fund that will benefit Marion County students — with a preference given to those who graduate from Harding High School and to those who will attend The Ohio State University, Ohio University, Miami University, Ohio Dominican University, or Marion Technical College, in the fields of science, biology, health care, nursing, or medicine.
