Allyson M. Haycox Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Allyson M. Haycox Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 2020 to honor Allyson (1953-2020) following her passing after a courageous battle fighting ovarian cancer. The scholarship supports Marion Area students pursing a college education in pharmacy or medicine.
Allyson hailed from Toledo, Ohio, and was the 1971 salutatorian of River Valley High School. She continued her education at The Ohio State University and graduated in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. She made a 35-year career with OhioHealth Marion General Hospital. Even throughout her battle with cancer, she went to work every day to help others.
When not working, Allyson enjoyed spending time with her family — husband, Terry, and daughters, Jennifer McAndrew and Laura Bennett—and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed knitting and reading.
The Allyson M. Haycox Memorial Scholarship was created by her husband and supports the college education of students from any high school in Marion County. Special consideration is given to those pursuing a degree and career in pharmacy, medicine, or health care.
